If you haven’t tried water skiing or wakeboarding you’re really missing out on a super fun sport that is not as difficult as you imagine.

In Phuket you can have fun all the year round in absolute safety at Phuket Cable Ski near Kathu waterfall. It’s a place for absolute beginners right up to experienced skiers and with really friendly and professional staff it’s so easy to learn. There’s no charge for lessons and you can have a lot of fun at the same time. Take home a new skill and impress your friends!  Be sure to bring your camera!


Families are most welcome and with a snack bar, showers and changing rooms, there is every facility for a great day out. The friendly Thai staff are all experts in making you feel at home: they speak English and your safety and enjoyment is their aim. Life jackets, which must be worn, are there to fit every size and there is a wide variety of equipment to try – wakeboards, wakeskates, waterskis, kneeboards and trick skis are all available and all are included in the price. If you should even fall in there is even a recovery service to bring you back to the snack bar! For experienced skiers there are ramps, funbo xes, kickers and a slide rail.


At Phuket Cable Ski & Phuket Wake Boarding you can ski in fresh clean water on the specially designed lake, which is 410 metres long, 110 metres wide and 2 metres deep so when you feel a little hot it’s also a great place to cool off in the water that is fresh from the mountain streams of Kathu waterfall just up the valley. The whole area is surrounded by palm trees and lush vegetation and it’s a really relaxing place.

The skiers are towed by a German-built ski-drag, an electric motor powered overhead tow cable stretching all the way round the course that has a pylon at each of the four corners and a cable speed of 28 kilometres per hour. It’s ideal for beginners and experienced skiers.

The experienced staff are skilled in making sure that you enjoy your experience safely – you are in good hands as the staff have all worked at Phuket Cable Ski between five and ten years and they can encourage and help even the most apprehensive person to feel confident enough to try and enjoy the sport!


The snack bar serves Thai and International food including burgers, fish & chips, sandwiches and a large variety of drinks all at very reasonable prices. With free WiFi, it’s a great place to come, have a meal and watch the excitement which is really infectious. With plenty of tables and chairs, it’s a fun place to bring the whole family – kids will have a ball!

It is also a perfect venue for corporate fun activities, birthday parties and family events. Prices start from just 750 baht for only one hour, but is reduce dramatically if you come for two hours or more. Rates include safety equipment, ski and board equipment hire. Additionally there are also some serious professional boards for hire.

The Cable Ski opens at 9:30 am and closes at dusk. It is not necessary to make an advance booking unless you are coming in a party of 10 or more and the morning is a great time to come especially if you want to try for the first time as the staff have more time to help you out, as in the afternoon there tend to be more people there having a great time!
